To honour and remember Queen ELIZABETH

If you would wish to gather together to remember and honour Queen ELIZABETH at a brief time of candlelit readings and music, there will be a gathering:

At High Bray Church tomorrow evening (Friday, the 9th) at 7pm.

All will be welcome to be together at this time of shared loss and grief, to remember the qualities that she brought to the Nation and the world, and now to offer hope for the future.

Bins out by 6am please!

Residents who live in North Devon will need to put their bins and bags out by 6am on the morning or evening before their collection from now on.

The new, earlier display time, of 6am rather than 7am, is to enable the crews to have more flexible working hours if and when needed.

Lead Member for Environment at North Devon Council, Councillor Netti Pearson says: “We’ve moved the start of our bin rounds forward by an hour so our crews can start their rounds earlier if need be. I’d like to thank everyone in advance for their help and understanding with this, although as many bins go out the night before, most households shouldn’t notice the change.”

Residents are being reminded that they can check when their bin collections are by visiting the council's webpage.

Full information on what goes in your bin, box and bag can be found online.

UKRAINE APPEAL Update

As you know the Churches of High Bray, the Chapel, & Charles launched a ‘Ukraine Appeal’ a month ago to support the emergency assistance for Ukrainians, both inside and outside of the Country.

So far, our communities have raised £2,722 (!) which has been sent to ‘Computers for Charities’, a Sussex based charity which has aided refugees and the dispossessed in Eastern Europe since the late 1990’s through local church organisations in those Countries. This donated amount is a remarkable achievement for our small community, and more donations come in weekly.

As the need in Ukraine continues to grow daily, if you feel you can assist, would you kindly contact one of the following:

Can you help?

Please either send a cheque made out to: ‘High Bray PCC’ with a note saying it is for the ‘Ukraine Appeal’.

Or give Cash contributions to Ruby White (01598 710417) or Madeleine Brownell (01598 710389) in an envelope marked ‘Ukraine Appeal’.

Postponement of Fundraising Events.

In view of the extremely high covid infection rates it has been decided to postpone the BINGO evening planned to take place on Saturday 22nd January 2022 and the Ferret Racing evening on Saturday 19th February 2022.

We realise this will be a disappointment to many but feel we cannot take the risk of spreading the Omicron variant throughout the village.

As soon as the level of infections reduce we will reschedule both events.

Brayford Village & Farmers Market

Brayford Village & Farmers Market

We are seeing a sudden increase of Covid infections in the area, and gathering together, which we all want to do, will just put our vulnerable and our youngest members of the family at risk. With regret, we are postponing our January 8th Village & Farmers Market to February 12th at the Village Hall. We hope to see you all then!

High Bray Church - COVID UPDATE

With Covid racing through our Village and community, we have decided that holding our traditional Christmas Eve Lessons and Carols Service at High Bray Church just wouldn’t be responsible, putting our friends and neighbours at greater risk.

All of us are very disappointed, as that community celebration is a joyous part of our Christmas; but we’re looking forward to 2022!

With our wishes to all for a better and healthier New Year.
